Timothy we are looking forward to your visit. Having met so many of your family now we look forward with some anticipation and joy.
Dos not be concerned about your children – we have been blighted for our sins with armfuls of grandchildren. Twittering, demanding, chuckling demons that are the centre of our lives. We look forward to your family. Let us not simper gracefully into our dotage, bring on the kids! We did not earn the grey hairs and wrinkles sipping hot chocolate while musing over where we put our slippers.
I would be most interested in sitting in on a lecture of your ‘Dialectal Existential Nihilism’. Do I need to wear protective clothing?
Am currently hosting, dodging, restraining, an older grandchild and her mate. They want to go hiking with ‘Poppa’ to get fit for the school camp. After a day of blisters getting unlost, and sharing preparations for our evening meal (women are always the expert Timothy) we sat about with candles spooking ourselves with ghost stories oft the mines of Thames, evil misdeeds and thieving chocolates while Poppa was not looking. This process is called settling the kids down for bed. Wonderful imaginations. Furrowed brows while plumbing the depths of intrigue and subterfuge.
God Help their husbands.
So relieved Jen is on the sunshine side of the hill. We have had a lot on our plate over just a few days but starting to see the sunny side myself. And looking forward meeting you folk and your little ‘uns.
~ just now from Jena text message, “Everything is going well, a little pain but not much (she has medication) not sure if I come home today or tomorrow, love to everybody”
I rang back (ain’t mobile phones great!) to complete the conversation. Sounds confident, a little tired. Jen has promised my flat white. Life is good.
